PICA - Frequently Asked Questions

Passport, Immigration & Citizenship Agency (PICA)

Yes, they can. The parent(s) of the child should present to PICA their:

  • Jamaican Birth Certificate – (for persons born in Jamaica)
  • Jamaican Adoption Certificate – (for persons adopted in Jamaica)
  • Jamaican Citizenship Certificate – (for persons who acquire citizenship other than birth or adoption).
  • Parent/s Jamaican passport
  • Two (2) passport size photographs of child or children- to be notarized by a notary public ( from overseas)

There are specific countries that do not offer dual citizenship. However, there is a process called “Unconditional Landing Stop” where you must be a descendant of Jamaica. To attain this status, you must provide:

  • Proof of yourself and mothers birth certificates
  • Passport
  • Pay a PICA fee of $10,000 JM

This will allow you stay in the Jamaica for extended period.

Passports older than this date will require in office processing or documents submitted through a bearer

Unfortunately, no. Once the uploaded photograph is of poor quality, it is required that the re-submission of the photo be done either in office, or through the consulate in person, or using a bearer service.
